The ASEAN Gems and Jewellery Trade Association (AGJA)

History

The ASEAN Gems and Jewellery Trade Association (AGJA) was established in July 2018 as an international body, and officially registered on September 11, 2019, through the collaboration of all 10 ASEAN member countries: Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Myanmar, Singapore, Indonesia, and Brunei. It was founded with the primary objective of forming a stronger alliance and pursuing common interests among members — promoting, developing, and supporting business operations in the gems and jewellery industry for the maximum benefit of its members and the industry as a whole. Its membership network spans more than 10 countries both within and outside ASEAN, including China.

  6. International Collaboration — Facilitating Business Matching and Networking with global industry players through trade shows and international conferences
  7. Market Strengthening — Strengthening the ASEAN market through the ASEAN PAVILION by AGJA platform

  • Exchange ideas among ASEAN member countries in jewellery production, design, distribution, retail, exportation, and importation
  • Emulate the best business practices and legal infrastructure among member countries, particularly in the field of taxation
  • Expand co-production, exportation, importation, and distribution rights among members
  • Assist member countries with creative strategies to engage, network, and align with present and future market demands
  • Encourage co-production projects to develop uniquely Asian jewellery designs
  • Seek the abolition of tariffs and trade restrictions on the importation and exportation of jewellery
  • Promote better understanding and goodwill among Asia-Pacific countries in the field of jewellery and related activities

 

Currently, the association’s office is located at GEMOPOLIS INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, No. 38, 5th Floor, I.G.S. Building, Soi Sukapiban 2, Soi 31, Sukapiban 2 Road, Dokmai Subdistrict, Prawet District, Bangkok.
